A 21-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after leading police on a high speed chase through parts of Butler Township.
Butler Township Police say the incident started just before 10 p.m. Friday night at Walmart. An actor- later identified as 21-year-old Donald Griffin Jr.- was accused of stealing about $550 worth of items.
After leaving the store, police say Griffin got into a Ford Escape and drove through the Walmart parking lot at a high rate of speed and without his light’s on.
Griffin then left the parking lot, turned onto New Castle Road and then onto Route 422 eastbound even though officers were attempting to pull him over.
The police chase continued on Route 422 until the Rt. 8 southbound exit, where Griffin allegedly sideswiped a vehicle, drove over a medium, struck an embankment and ended up on a hillside where his car became disabled.
No one was hurt besides Griffin himself, who suffered a head injury and was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. After treatment, he was released into the custody of Butler Township Police, who charged him with several offenses including a felony charge of feeling and eluding police and driving without a license.
