The Pittsburgh Steelers reduced their roster to the NFL-mandated 53 players to begin the season Tuesday. The team terminated the contract of wide receiver Robert Woods, who the Steelers signed as a free agent in the off-season. They also cut defensive end DeMarvin Leal, who the Steelers tried to move to linebacker in the preseason. The Steelers also released defensive backs Beanie Bishop and James Pierre.
One of the final cuts in Cleveland included former Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson. Johnson was traded prior to last season to Carolina, who then traded him during the season to Baltimore.
