Jakob Nowell told Billboard that fans likely won’t see another album from him with Sublime after Until The Sun Explodes releases today. The son of original singer Bradley Nowell joined veterans Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh in 2023, creating the band’s new lineup. Their collaboration produced chart-topping alt-rock singles “Ensenada” and the title track. Nowell called the album a “one-off,” stating “Unless a child of mine wants to make another one day, this is the last one I’m gonna make.” He plans to focus on his own project Jakobs Castle while continuing to “play a few Sublime shows every year.” Nowell described the album as an “epilogue” and “love letter to my father.” Sublime has upcoming shows including San Diego’s Petco Park Saturday, New Jersey’s Park Stage June 19th, and festivals in Portland and Salt Lake City.
