The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Athletics 12-4 last night. Ryan O’Hearn led the Bucs by driving in a career-high six runs, just missing hitting for the cycle. O’Hearn homered, doubled and singled in the game. Marcell Ozuna also homered and had two hits of the Pirates 16 hits in the game. Braxton Ashcraft improved to 6-3 this season, allowing two runs, one earned over six innings. He struck our seven.
The Pirates top four batters in the game combined for eight hits and seven runs scored.
After taking two of three games from the A’s, the Bucs are off today and open a three-game series in Colorado Friday night.
Bubba Chandler, Paul Skenes and Jared Jones will be the Pirates starting pitchers against the Rockies. The Bucs return home and begin a three-game series with Seattle after another day off Monday. Cincinnati will be at PNC Park next weekend.
