The Pittsburgh Pirates visit the Colorado Rockies to begin a three-game series tonight in Denver. First pitch is 8:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 8:15pm. Bubba Chandler will start for the Bucs.
Chandler is 2-7 this season with a 4.76 ERA. On the mound for the Rockies will be Kyle Freeland, who is 1-7 with a 7.98 ERA. The veteran Freeland, who has spent all 10 of his MLB seasons with the Rockies, is a left-handed starting pitcher. The Pirates have struggled against left-handed starters.
The Bucs are currently 38-37 and have won two games in a row. They sit 8-1/2 games behind the first place Brewers in the N.L. Central and one game out of a Wild Card spot. The Rockies currently carry the worst record in baseball at 28-47.
The Pirates have traded catcher Joey Bart to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for reliever Hunter Stratton. Bart had been on the Injured List, and currently there was no room for him on the active roster since the return of Endy Rodriguez.
