Bonnie Tyler, the singer known for hits including “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero” died on Wednesday, according to a statement attributed to her family and team. She was 75.
The Welsh singer died in a hospital in Portugal, where she was being treated for an illness, according to the statement, which was posted on the singer’s official social media channel.
“We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy,” the statement said.
Five Finger Death Punch have claimed their 18th No. 1 single on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with “Eye of the Storm,” extending their record for the longest consecutive No. 1 streak in the chart’s 45-year history. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has declared the Pixies’ 1988 debut album Surfer Rosa his perfect record. Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Grohl praised the Boston band’s classic release, saying he has never grown tired of it. “I love that record so much for a lot of reasons,” he said, citing producer Steve Albini’s groundbreaking engineering technique as a key factor. Grohl also highlighted frontman Frank Black’s “abstract” lyrics and his vocal chemistry with bassist Kim Deal. “Their two voices together were just such a wonderful blend, and it was unusual at the time,” he said. “That record I’ve probably listened to 10,000 times and I still love it. Grammy-winning blues rockers Alabama Shakes have announced their first album in more than ten years. I Must Be Dreaming is set for release on August 28, following 2015’s Sound & Color. The band has already dropped two singles, “Another Life” and “American Dream,” with a third, “I Feel Hope Coming,” arriving this Friday. “This younger generation makes me feel hopeful because they can see through all the political lies,” said frontwoman Brittany Howard. Justin Bieber has been added to the lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final halftime show, the tournament’s first ever. The show takes place July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium. Bieber joins co-headliners Madonna, Shakira, and BTS, with additional appearances from Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, and PS22 Chorus featuring Coldplay. The Muppets will also appear. Curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, the show is expected to run 11 minutes. Airbnb has launched an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at this year’s Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. Led by veteran festival producer Tim Sweetwood, the experience gives guests access to artist areas, production zones, and other backstage spaces normally closed to the public. Attendees can also watch performances from the Airbnb stage. Lollapalooza runs July 30 through August 2 at Grant Park, featuring over 170 artists including Charli XCX, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lorde, and Olivia Dean.
