Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who turns 83 later this month, was asked by The New York Times what was good about getting older. “There’s nothing good about it,” he replied. When prompted about wisdom, he quipped: “I forgot all my wisdom.” He added that physical limitations have become unavoidable. “You can’t do things as quickly as you want to. Physically you’ve got to be more careful.” Jagger also reflected on navigating multiple public personas, describing the challenge of separating his rock star identity from his true self. On songwriting, however, he softened slightly. “I wouldn’t have written any of these songs when I was 30, honestly,” he said of his more recent compositions, crediting age with sharpening his craft. Shinedown bassist Eric Bass will sit out the start of the band’s summer North American headlining tour due to what he calls a “pretty serious mental health crash.” The tour kicks off July 11 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and runs through August 23 in Springfield, Illinois, with support from Coheed & Cambria. Bass announced the news via a video posted to Shinedown’s social media channels. “I don’t really feel it’s the wise thing for me to do to go out on tour right now,” he said. Bass is currently undergoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment at the Medical University of South Carolina. Josh Sturm of the band Kairos will fill in during his absence, alongside guitarist Zach Myers taking on bass duties. Bass hopes to rejoin the tour but has not committed to a specific date. Story URL
The Cure bassist Simon Gallup stepped away from the band’s European tour after falling ill just before a July 10 concert in Berlin. His son Eden, already part of the touring lineup, shifted to bass duties to save the show. The band confirmed Gallup remains “not well enough to play,” with Eden covering bass for the second and third Berlin nights as well. The Cure offered no details on Gallup’s condition but asked fans to wish him “the speediest of recoveries.” The 66-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer has played with the band since 1979. Eden had joined the tour last month, replacing the late Perry Bamonte, who passed away in December 2025. No return date for Gallup has been announced. Story URL
