Phil Collins is honoring the 45th anniversary of his 1981 debut solo album Face Value with a deluxe 4xLP vinyl box set titled Face Value (Full Value), arriving September 18th. The set features the original album half-speed remastered at Abbey Road, alongside rare demos, outtakes, and previously unreleased live recordings. Highlights include stripped-back performances of “In the Air Tonight” and “The Roof Is Leaking” from The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball, an unreleased outtake of his Beatles cover “Tomorrow Never Knows,” and a full version of “Over The Rainbow.” A Blu-ray edition featuring new Dolby Atmos, 5.1, and stereo mixes by Steven Wilson also drops the same day. Collins is set for his second Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in November, though he won’t perform due to ongoing health issues. Story URL
A newly-announced collection of David Bowie’s earliest recordings will arrive September 18th. Titled The Shel Talmy Recordings, the album captures 1965 sessions produced by Shel Talmy — known for his work with The Who and The Kinks — made when Bowie was still performing as Davie Jones. The CD and digital editions include 10 previously unheard tracks, while the vinyl features six. Future Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page appears throughout, described in a press release as Talmy’s go-to “precocious guitar-slinger” who used a custom fuzz pedal to “add extra bite.” Pianist Nicky Hopkins also contributes. Music historian Alec Palao writes in the sleeve notes that the recordings “speak as loudly of the excitement of London and its music scene in that pivotal year of 1965.” Story URL

A GoFundMe supporting L7 bassist Jennifer Finch, who is battling aggressive brain cancer, has raised $300,000 — double its original $150,000 target. The goal has since been raised to $350,000. Notable donations include $10,000 from Bad Religion guitarist and Epitaph Records founder Brett Gurewitz and his wife Gina, $8,000 from Garbage, and $5,000 each from Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna, Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament, and Adrienne Armstrong. Organizer Aubree Miller said she was “absolutely blown away by the support.” Funds will cover in-home nursing care, therapy, and medical equipment. Finch will not join L7 on their fall 2026 “Last Hurrah” farewell tour, with bassist Tsuzumi Okai stepping in. The tour runs October 9th through November 14th. Story URL
