A car once owned by Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham is heading to auction this Saturday, through Iconic Auctioneers in the U.K. The 1972 Jensen Interceptor III, finished in reef blue with a red interior, is expected to sell for between £40,000 and £50,000 (approximately $53,000–$66,000). The listing confirms Bonham’s ownership is “well documented,” though details remain scarce. Notably, the car may be the same Interceptor Bonham crashed in September 1977, when he drove into a ditch after leaving a Worcestershire pub, breaking two ribs. The current owner acquired the vehicle in “barn find condition” and spent over £83,000 restoring it between 2020 and 2023. Tom Morello has created the Mary Morello Memorial Project to honor his mother, who passed away earlier this month at age 102. A teacher and lifelong activist, Mary helped feed the poor during the Great Depression, protested Jim Crow laws, and supported anti-colonial movements across Africa. The project will direct donations to charities meaningful to Mary, including the UFW Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and the Center for Native American Youth. Morello urged supporters to “do as Mary did” through volunteering, protesting, and community service before her October 1st birthday. Morello also recently released “Adjourn It” featuring his son Roman and Serj Tankian, and announced a one-day festival, Power to the People, on October 3rd in Columbia, Maryland. Story URL
