Oasis has claimed the title of the U.K.’s bestselling studio album of all time. Their 1995 sophomore record, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, has accumulated 6.2 million chart units, boosted by last summer’s Live 25 reunion tour. The milestone was revealed as part of the Official Charts Company’s 70th anniversary. The album debuted at No. 3 overall, behind Queen’s Greatest Hits (7.8 million) and ABBA’s Gold (7.1 million). It overtakes The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which now sits at 5.6 million chart units. Adele’s 21 also surpassed the Beatles record, landing at No. 4 with 5.7 million units. John Lydon says he will “never forgive” his former Sex Pistols bandmates Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the ex-frontman cited a 2021 lawsuit filed while his wife, Nora, was dying of Alzheimer’s disease. “They piled that court case on me while my wife was dying. They knew she was ill,” Lydon said. He also claimed legal costs drained money he could have used for her care. Lydon dismissed any reunion talk as “in the minus infinities” and called Matlock “a very unlikeable fellow.” When told Jones believed a reunion was possible if the money was right, Lydon responded: “They are special people with special needs.” Lydon continues touring with Public Image Ltd. A new posthumous Jimmy Buffett album is in the works, featuring mostly unreleased material spanning two decades. Buffett passed away in 2023 at age 76, but his Coral Reefer Band has continued recording. Co-producers Mac McAnally and Michael Utley confirmed the project in a Billboard interview. “For the most part, things that have never been out,” McAnally said, noting tracks range from 2003 to roughly four years ago. The collection includes “Workin’ ‘n’ Playin’,” performed on tour in 2015 and 2016, an unused track from the 2017 musical Escape to Margaritaville, and the full piece backing Buffett’s Jurassic World cameo.
