Phil Collins has opened up about nearly dying in 2024 during his struggle with alcohol addiction. The Genesis singer told the Sunday Times he was first hospitalized in Switzerland in November 2023, was briefly discharged, then readmitted to intensive care weeks later. “My kidneys were packing up, my organs were just seizing up,” Collins said. “People were coming to say goodbye.” His five children rushed to the hospital, with doctors considering whether to keep him on life support. Collins spent seven months recovering. “I was very lucky to have come out of that,” he said. “Needless to say, I haven’t had a drink since.” Collins previously referenced his addiction in his 2016 memoir, citing alcohol as a companion during difficult periods tied to persistent back injuries. Slipknot has reportedly fired turntablist Sid Wilson. TMZ says a source close to the band said Wilson was notified on July 31st that he was being permanently let go. Wilson joined the masked metal act in 1998 and appeared on every album except their 1996 demo. Guitarist Jim Root responded on Instagram Stories, urging fans: “Don’t believe every thing you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath.” If confirmed, Wilson would be the latest classic member removed, following Chris Fehn in 2019 and Craig Jones in 2023. Only four original members would remain. Greta Van Fleet have announced a new album, Palace for the People, set for release on October 9th. The band also unveiled their latest single, “Saw You Stand,” a track that opens as a soft piano ballad before building into singer Josh Kiszka’s soaring falsetto. The album follows previous single “Play Your Games,” released in late May, and was co-produced by the band alongside Mike Elizondo, known for his work with Turnstile and Fiona Apple. “We’ve grown closer, and we have more to say and share than ever,” Josh Kiszka said. Modest Mouse has dropped guitarist Simon O’Connor from their remaining tour dates after screenshots surfaced allegedly showing him sending inappropriate messages to a 16-year-old fan on Instagram. The fan posted details and screenshots on Reddit, showing O’Connor sending an explicit meme before deleting it. She noted her age was visible in her bio. O’Connor apologized, claiming he mistook her for a known troll. “I unsent the messages and immediately ceased communication,” he said. “I’m genuinely sorry to the person who received those messages.” The band confirmed his removal on Instagram, announcing Seth Jabour of Les Savy Fav as his replacement. New Radicals have dropped “One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!),” their first original song in nearly 28 years. The track appears on the soundtrack for the upcoming rom-com One Night Only, out August 7. Gregg Alexander disbanded the group in 1999, a year after their debut album.
