The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 last night. Jared Jones took the loss. He allowed three earned runs on eight hits over four innings. Jones allowed two home runs. Endy Rodriguez and Jacob Gonzales hit solo home runs for the Pirates, who had just five hits in the game. Brandon Lowe had two singles.
The Rodriguez home run was Endy’s first since returning from the Injured List. He had not hit a round-tripper since July 3rd.
The loss dropped the Pirates back under the .500 mark. They are now 57-58 overall and remain 3-1/2 games out of a National League Wild Card spot.
The Bucs and Brewers meet again tonight prior to an afternoon game Thursday. First pitch tonight is 7:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:15pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates.
The win for Milwaukee was their major league-best 70th of the season. The Pirates are 14 games behind the Brewers in the N.L. Central.
Pirates manager Don Kelly was thrown out of last night’s game, for a major league-leading sixth time this season.
