The A.L. decided the game in the first inning, when they scored three runs off Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sanchez. The N.L. managed just five base runners.
Tampa Bay slugger Junior Caminero had a scare when he was hit by a 97 mile per hour pitch from St. Louis right-hander Riley O’Brien in the third inning. X-rays came back negative.
The Philadelphia Phillies host the New York Mets to resume play in baseball Thursday night.
The Pirates resume play Friday in Cleveland. The starting pitching rotation has not been announced.
