Butler County Community College hosted their annual “Pioneer Pursuit” 5K race and associated events last weekend which raised nearly $12,000 to support BC3’s intercollegiate athletics programs.
43-year old Jason Smith of Wexford placed first among men with a time of 20:44.45. 47-year old Holly Peterman of New Brighton led the women’s division with a time of 28:12.98. She also won the female 40 to 49 age bracket.
Nearly three dozen runners from six local counties participated in the 5K race, which also included a 1-mile walk and 100-meter kids’ dash as part of the Pioneer Pursuit event on the BC3 main campus in Butler Township.
