The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 last night. The game was Chicago star forward Connor Bedard’s first game of the season after he had shoulder surgery in July. The Blackhawks scored less than 30-seconds into the game. Sidney Crosby scored his first goal of the season when the Penguins tied the game six minutes later. The Penguins battled back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game in the third period when Crosby scored again, but the Blackhawks scored the game-winner with just over four minutes remaining in the game. They added to the lead with an empty-net goal with :10-seconds remaining.
Rookie goaltender Sergei Murashov stopped just 15 of 19 shots on net for the Penguins, who now head west for three more games.
The Pens have back-to-back games Friday and Saturday in Colorado and Las Vegas. They don’t have a home game until a week from this Thursday.
