A Butler County man is facing charges in Allegheny County after injuring a state police trooper during a traffic stop this weekend.
On Saturday around 7:20 p.m., A state trooper pulled over 44-year-old Steven Guthrie of Butler for allegedly driving under the influence along Route 28 in Harrison Township.
According to charging documents, after Guthrie to stepped out of his vehicle he refused to comply with the trooper. During the struggle to put Guthrie in handcuffs, he allegedly injured the troopers left hand and right eye.
While in custody, the trooper alleged Guthrie threated to kill the officer and said “next time I see you, you’re going to die.”
Along with the driving offenses Guthrie is facing, he’s been charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and terroristic threats.
He’s currently in the Allegheny County Jail and his bail was set at $5,000.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 17.
