However\, it does in the case of Tesla. Over the course of their thirty-year career\, the critically acclaimed iconic Sacramento melodic hard rock quintet—Frank Hannon [guitar]\, Brian Wheat [bass]\, Jeff Keith [lead vocals]\, Troy Luccketta [drums]\, and Dave Rude [guitar]—sold more than 25 million albums and performed to sold out crowds across the world. Their journey kicked into high gear with 1986’s platinum-certified debut\, Mechanical Resonance\, which solidified them as a household name and yielded signature anthems such as “Little Suzi\,” “Modern Day Cowboy\,” “Cumin’ Atcha Live\,” and “Gettin’ Better.” Celebrating the record’s 30th birthday\, the boys from Sacramento unleash Mechanical Resonance Live! which will be released on August 26\, 2016 (Tesla Electric Company Recordings/Mailboat/Frontiers). Recorded in the Spring and Fall of 2015 while on tour with Def Leppard\, it spruces up the classic 12-song track listing with 21st century live renditions. Bringing everything full circle\, they owe its genesis to the suggestion of a close friend and fan Phil Collen of Def Leppard… “Phil came into our dressing room to have a talk with us one night\,” recalls Frank. “As a true fan of Tesla\, he suggested that we record a live rendition of Mechanical Resonance. It was just a brilliant idea. We immediately agreed with him.” “We pride ourselves on being great on stage\, and we were really able to capture that\,” says Brian. “It’s a bit of déjà vu. 30 years ago\, we were on tour with Def Leppard promoting Mechanical Resonance. 30 years later\, we’re touring with Def Leppard and promoting Mechanical Resonance!” For the first time since the record’s original tour cycle\, Tesla dusted off deep cuts like “We’re No Good Together” and “Before My Eyes.” Mixed by Brian in his own studio\, the recordings pack a powerful and passionate punch by preserving the original performances. “Some of these live renditions are better than the performances on the original record\,” continues Brian. “It’s just us doing what Tesla do best\, playing live. I wanted it to be as in-your-face as it could be.” “It’s completely honest and real\,” Frank concurs. “When you listen to it\, you’ll hear the imperfections and nuances\, because it’s one-hundred percent us.” As much as it honors their legacy\, Mechanical Resonance Live! hints at Tesla’s future as well. The band includes a brand new track\, “Save That Goodness\,” produced and written by Phil Collen. Energized by bombastic guitars\, robust grooves\, and an epic refrain complete with a choir call-and-response\, the song remains a welcome addition within their storied catalog. “It’s definitely reminiscent of Tesla’s style\, because it’s got a positive message in the lyrics\, and the vibe is really upbeat\,” Frank exclaims. “I can’t wait to play that live.” “We love the way Phil works\,” Brian goes on. “You’ll hear more of that quality down the line. It’s got the ‘Little Suzi’ good time vibe.” The 21st century has become something of a renaissance for Tesla. Most recently\, 2014’s Simplicity bowed at #14 on the Billboard Top 200. The group ignited ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! in addition to scorching stages at festivals such as Rocklahoma\, Graspop Metal Meeting\, and Sweden Rock Festival as well as the cruise Monsters of Rock! Remaining committed to philanthropy\, they hosted a benefit for The Station nightclub fire in addition to playing a rally for the Sacramento Kings. They simply never stop. As they prepare to cut their ninth full-length album with Collen at the helm\, Tesla take a big leap forward as they glance back on Mechanical Resonance Live! “I want people to feel like Tesla is still full of energy these days\,” concludes Frank. “That’s it.” “This is a band we started in Frank’s garage when I was 18\, and Frank was 15\,” Brian leaves off. “I’m proud we’re still standing this many years later. It’s a pretty cool place to be. I’d love for people to think\, ‘That band has managed to stay in the game for 30 plus years\, and they’re still playing great shows and putting out quality music.’ Now\, just turn the shit up when you listen to it. It was made to play loud.”

SUMMARY:LA GUNS
DESCRIPTION:LA GUNS\n\nSaturday\, August 05\, 2017\nBUY TICKETS \nShow Time: 8:00 PM / Doors Open: 6:00pm \n$20 advance – $25 day of show – $35 early entry at 5:00 \n100 – Early Entry Tickets Available \nMinors under 21 must be accompanied by Parent or Legal Guardian \nAfter a nearly 15 year break\, Philip Lewis and Tracii Guns are back together for another chapter in their partnership that began in 1986\, four years after Tracii formed L.A. Guns in 1982. \nTheir writing partnership spawned classic L.A. GUNS songs such as “Sex Action”\, “Never Enough”\, “Electric Gypsy”\, “The Ballad Of Jayne”\, and countless more in an impressive catalog of fan favorites. The last time Lewis and Guns joined forces was back in 2000 with legendary producer Andy Johns for the making of what would become “Waking The Dead” – an album that went on to receive tremendous critical acclaim and proved that their musical partnership was every bit as strong as the early days with all-killer-no-filler songs including “Don’t Look At Me That Way”\, “Hellraisers Ball”\, and “The Ballad”. \n“I think we owe it to our fans who have stuck with us during the many ups and downs of the band’s long and checkered career\,” says Lewis. “Tracii and I have written the songs to the soundtrack of many people’s lives\, and I think it’s definitely worth investigating to see if the magic is still there.” \nAs for Guns\, he’s been compiling song ideas over the last year and promises this one will be one of the band’s heaviest records\, simply stating\, “It’s good to be home.” \nThe band has already confirmed a bunch of UK shows in early 2017 and two shows at the legendary Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles\, CA with more surprises to be announced soon!

SUMMARY:MR. BIG
DESCRIPTION:MR. BIG\n\nTuesday\, June 06\, 2017\nBUY TICKETS \nShow Time: 7:00 PM / Doors Open: 6:00pm \nEarly Entry @ 5:00p (100 tickets) \nMinors under 21 must be accompanied by Parent or Legal Guardian \nThe real story often comes through in the music. That’s definitely the case for Mr. Big. In fact\, their seventh full-length album\, the appropriately titled …The Stories We Could Tell [Frontiers Records]\, offers an unfiltered glimpse into the journey of these multi-platinum hard rock icons—Eric Martin [vocals]\, Paul Gilbert [guitar]\, Billy Sheehan [bass]\, and Pat Torpey [drums]. \n“Fans think they know their favorite band from the press\, but there’s a lot they never realize\,” explains Eric. “There’s always more than meets the eye. Most folks don’t know the trials and tribulations that went into the making of\, survival of\, demise of\, and resurrection of our rock ‘n’ roll band. We want to tell them.” \nIt’s quite a tale too. After a highly successful ten-month tour behind 2011’s What If…\, the members took a short break to pursue various endeavors. Billy rocked with The Winery Dogs\, Paul released his twelfth solo album Vibrato\, and Eric engaged in a “never-ending”\, as he affectionately refers to it\, solo acoustic tour. \nIn 2013\, the vocalist began developing some ideas in the group’s collective Dropbox aka “rock vault”. He regrouped with producer Pat Regan [Kiss\, Deep Purple] and Torpey at the latter’s home studio in North Hollywood. As they began to flesh out song structures\, it was clear that Torpey wasn’t himself. \n“I could sense something was wrong\,” sighs Eric. “One day\, we sat on the couch and he just told me\, ‘Hey man\, I’ve got Parkinson’s Disease’. It was unbelievable. Despite it\, he still pushed through all that and recorded. That shows what kind of character he is. He worked his ass off on this album\, and he was fighting this huge adversity. We’re a brotherhood\, and we rallied around our friend to make this work.” \nFor the first time since their self-titled debut\, the boys wrote in the same room together live. Eric also had a certain vision for …The Stories We Could Tell\, and his comrades embraced it. \n“I was trying to get a theme going\,” he says. “I picked the bluesier riffs that we had been kicking around\, and everything moved in that direction. This is the first time we’ve really had a cohesive theme.” \nThat spirit courses through the album opener and first single “Gotta Love The Ride”. With a distinct groove\, impressive six-string shredding\, and driving beat\, it ignites the roller coaster for Mr. Big. \n“Life is more about the journey than the destination\,” Eric adds. “When you realize the gifts you have already been given\, you achieve true success. Everybody wants to cross the finish line as quickly as they can without taking in life’s beautiful moments. However\, the journey is the key to paradise.” \nAt the same time\, there’s a swaggering funk stomp fueling “The Monster In Me”. \nEric grins\, “That’s a sexual one. It’s about releasing the beast. There’s a tongue-in-cheek element though too.” \n“I Forget To Breathe” marvels at the breadth and scope of life’s wonders\, while the soulful “Just Let Your Heart Decide” illuminates Mr. Big’s simultaneous instrumental prowess and knack for a ballad. “It’s about being at the crossroads of love\,” he goes on. “It’s that dilemma only your heart can decide. Is it worth it to keep fighting for the relationship or to wash your hands of it?” \n…The Stories We Could Tell continues certain musical traditions Mr. Big began over 25 years ago. To date\, the band has played sold out songs all over the globe and released three consecutive platinum albums—Mr. Big [1989]\, Lean Into It [1991]\, and Bump Ahead [1993]. They’ve been responsible for smashes including “To Be With You”\, which spent 15 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100\, as well as “Wild World”\, “Green-Tinted Sixties Mind”\, “Just Take My Heart”\, and more. However\, their story is only getting better with each passing year. \n“This is the record we threatened to make in the beginning\,” concludes Eric. “…The Stories We Could Tell captures everything we discussed way back when we first talked our influences over Chinese food in Hollywood during the late eighties. This is what Mr. Big was always meant to be.” – Rick Florino\, October 2014

SUMMARY:WINGER
DESCRIPTION:WINGER\n\nWednesday\, April 26\, 2017\nBUY TICKETS \nShow Time: 7:00 PM / Doors Open: 6:00pm \n100 – Early Entry Tickets at 5:00 Available – $40.00 \nMinors under 21 must be accompanied by Parent or Legal Guardian \nA former member of Alice Cooper‘s band\, bassist Kip Winger formed his own group in 1986; in addition to vocalist/bassist Winger\, the group featured guitarist Reb Beach\, bassist Paul Taylor\, and drummer Rod Morgenstein\, formerly of the Dixie Dregs. Taking their name from their leader after a last-minute change from Sahara\, Winger specialized in the stylish pop-metal that sent Bon Jovi and Poison to the top of the charts. The band’s eponymous debut sold over a million copies on the strength of the rocker “Seventeen” and the ballad “Headed for a Heartbreak.” Winger‘s second album\, 1990’s In the Heart of the Young\, was equally successful\, selling over a million copies and featuring the hit power ballad “Miles Away.” However\, the band didn’t outlast the post-alternative pop-metal backlash and the group faded away after the release of their 1993 album Pull. Kip Winger launched a solo career later that decade\, releasing three albums before reuniting with his former bandmates in 2002. After a brief tour alongside fellow pop-metal veterans Poison\, the band returned to the studio to craft their first album in more than a decade. 2006’s IV stuck close to the formula that made Winger famous\, and the resulting reunion tour was captured on the two-disc set Winger Live. Another album called Karma quickly followed in 2009\, but the group took its time to deliver Better Days Comin’\, which appeared in the spring of 2014.

SUMMARY:SCOTT STAPP – THE VOICE OF CREED
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 27\, 2016\n\nBUY TICKETS \nShow Time: 8:00 PM / Doors Open: 6:00pm \nScott Stapp’s artistic and personal journey have encompassed all the talent and torment imaginable in scaling to musical success. The founding member of Creed chronicled his questions\, his quest for answers\, and his dreams from faith to fatherhood in chart topping hits\, “My Own Prison\,” “Higher\,” and “With Arms Wide Open\,” which dominated the sonic landscape of the 90s-2000s. His soul-piercing lyrics backed by thundering rock riffs garnered a Grammy award\, and countless other accolades of creativity and chart domination\, not to mention legions of fans\, who felt a kindred spirit in his honesty. \nCreed toured extensively through its reign atop rock music\, but for Scott\, the musical machinery to keep the show going meant some terrible personal cost\, as he sunk into depths of depression\, and periods of erratic behavior that was later to be revealed as undiagnosed bipolar disorder\, prompting self-medication that turned to addictive behaviors. His creativity\, passion\, and desire to be transparent in his struggle never waned\, and were evident on his debut solo album\, The Great Divide (2005)\, the Full Circle album from a “rebirthed” Creed in 2009\, several tours\, his starkly revealing memoir\, Sinner’s Creed (2012)\, and his highly-acclaimed second solo album\, Proof of Life\, in 2013\, which brought Scott’s first number one song on the Christian charts. \nScott’s spiral with addiction and bipolar disorder through the past year proved to be the most harrowing chapter of his life. With the love and support of his family\, acceptance of his diagnosis\, proper combinations of treatment and therapy\, and a balanced\, healthy lifestyle\, grounded in faith\, he has come through to the other side. He has a fresh purpose in performing\, writing\, and singing\, to bring hope to “even one person” who is amidst the kind of struggle he knows. He is now sharing his stories with the world (recently featured in People Magazine and the Dr. Oz Show). Hope has always been a theme of his music\, and now\, that level of hope takes on a whole new dimension. \nScott and his wife\, Jaclyn\, are appearing in vh1’s Couple’s Therapy in the current sixth season\, hoping to be a real-life example for other families with similar struggles\, and an inspiration that healing and rebuilding life together is possible. \nScott is embarking on an international tour with his first-ever stops in South Africa (December)\, continuing with U.S. dates in 2016.\nIn gratitude for the many interventions made in his behalf\, Scott devotes himself to “paying it forward” to others in need through numerous outreaches. He created the “With Arms Wide Open Foundation” in 2000 to help underprivileged children and families around the world. The foundation has donated over $1 million to various causes. He is also involved with CHARM (Children are Magical) which his wife founded to heighten the awareness of children’s issues and provide underprivileged youth with the tools to enrich their lives. Currently Scott resides in Brentwood\, TN with his wife\, Jaclyn\, and their three children.

SUMMARY:PETER WOLF & THE MIDNIGHT TRAVELERS
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, November 22\, 2016\n\nShow Time: 8:00 PM / Doors Open: 6:00pm \n\nA Cure for Loneliness manifests the same vibrant passion for music that’s motivated Peter Wolf for most of his life.  Growing up in an artistic\, politically engaged family in the Bronx\, he became an early rock ‘n’ roll convert after attending an Alan Freed rock ‘n’ roll revue that included performances by Chuck Berry\, Buddy Holly\, Jerry Lee Lewis\, Little Richard and Frankie Lymon.  His thirst for new and old sounds drove him to exploring blues\, soul\, country\, folk and jazz\, inspiring weekly visits to Harlem’s Apollo Theatre and leading to acquaintances with many of the music’s surviving originators. \nWolf’s natural loquaciousness won him a job as an all-night DJ on the fledgling FM rock station WBCN.  Adopting the persona of “the Woofa Goofa\,” he spun raw rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm ‘n’ blues\, channeling the spirit of the flashy\, fast-talking DJs he’d grown up listening to. \nWolf’s encyclopedic musical knowledge came in handy when he and some like-minded Boston players formed the J. Geils Band\, much of whose early repertoire was drawn from Wolf’s vast record collection.  The band soon became a local favorite injecting a much-needed jolt of raw\, uninhibited rock ‘n’ roll into the ’70s scene and was soon signed by Jerry Wexler for Atlantic Records. Between 1970 and 1983\, the J. Geils Band released 13 influential albums\, topped the pop single charts with 1981’s “Freeze Frame\,” “Love Stinks\,”  “Centerfold\,” and earned a reputation as one of rock’s most exciting live acts\, thanks in large part to Wolf’s flamboyant\, hyperactive stage presence. \nAfter going solo with 1984’s Lights Out\, Wolf continued to stake out new musical territory with the subsequent releases Lights Out\, Come As You Are\, Up to No Good\, Long Line\, Fool’s Parade\, Sleepless and Midnight Souvenirs\, and A Cure For Loneliness. His solo work has seen him collaborate with the likes of Aretha Franklin\, Merle Haggard\, John Lee Hooker\, Mick Jagger\, Keith Richards\, Little Milton\, Wilson Pickett\, Shelby Lynne and Neko Case.  Wolf temporarily reunited with his J. Geils Band cohorts for live shows on several occasions between 1999 and 2015\, but his solo career has remained his creative focus\, as A Cure for Loneliness makes clear. \n\n$26.00 – $29.00 Jergels.com

SUMMARY:BUCKCHERRY W/SPECIAL GUESTS
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, November 21\, 2016\n\n  \nShow Time: 8:00 PM / Doors Open: 6:00pm \nThe Los Angeles-based hard rock act Buckcherry formed in mid-1995\, after singer Joshua Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson were introduced through their tattoo artist. After cutting several demos\, the duo recruited bassist Jonathan “J.B.” Brightman and drummer Devon Glenn and began performing live\, quickly earning a local following for their swaggering\, grunge-flavored music. Following the subsequent addition of second guitarist Yogi Lonich\, Buckcherry signed with DreamWorks Records and issued their self-titled debut LP in 1999. Singles such as “Check Your Head” and “For the Movies” were modern rock hits\, allowing Buckcherry to raise their profile by summer 2000. \nThe following year\, Buckcherry released their second album\, Time Bomb. Although it wasn’t widely noticed by critics\, AC/DC recruited the band as an opening act for a series of shows\, and Buckcherry’s audience grew accordingly. In July 2002\, founding member Joshua Todd unexpectedly quit the group\, and Buckcherry took a multi-year hiatus to recoup. They eventually regrouped in 2005 with original members Todd and Nelson\, as well as newcomers Xavier Muriel (drums)\, bassist Jimmy Ashhurst\, and guitarist Stevie D. The revised lineup hit the studio later that year to record 15\, which was released in early 2006 and yielded the band’s first Top Ten pop single\, “Sorry.” 15 went platinum on the strength of its crossover appeal\, and Buckcherry quickly returned in 2008 with a fourth album\, Black Butterfly. The concert album Live & Loud 2009 was released the following year\, as the band prepared to hit the road as Kiss’ opening act. \nThe band released its fifth full-length album\, All Night Long\, in August 2010. Despite debuting at number ten on the Billboard Top 200\, the album failed to generate a major hit single. Soon\, Buckcherry parted ways with Atlantic and signed to Century Media\, which released the heavy\, melodic Confessions in February 2013. As part of their promotion for Confessions\, the band assembled several short films to accompany it. A year later\, the band released the Fuck EP\, a six-track record where every song contained the F-word in its title. That EP was a stopgap prior to the full-length Rock N Roll\, which came out in August 2015; it debuted at 93 on the Billboard Top 200. ~ Jason Ankeny\, Rovi
