Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has opened up about his 2023 departure from the metal band after a decade-long tenure. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Weinberg suggested he “maybe became a scapegoat” when the band made what they called a “creative decision” to remove him. The 33-year-old musician, son of E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, dedicated ten years to Slipknot before his unexpected exit. Since leaving, Weinberg has toured with Suicidal Tendencies, recorded with Fuming Mouth, and launched new band Portraits of an Apparition. He’s also partnering with Reverb to sell gear from his past, including drum kits used with both the E Street Band and Slipknot. Weinberg began his career at 18, filling in for his father on Bruce Springsteen’s European stadium tour. He and his wife are expecting their first child, prompting him to build a home studio in Nashville. (Story URL)
No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont announced Saturday he has been diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease, less than a month before the band’s Las Vegas Sphere residency begins on May 6th. In a social media video, Dumont said he experienced symptoms years ago and underwent extensive testing with doctors and neurologists before receiving his diagnosis. “It’s been a struggle, it’s a struggle every day,” the guitarist who joined No Doubt in 1988 stated. Despite his condition, Dumont confirmed he will perform at the upcoming shows. “The good news is I can still play music, I can still play guitar. I’ve been doing really well,” he said. Dumont hopes sharing his story will reduce stigma while raising awareness for prevention and research. Bandmates showed support, with drummer Adrian Young calling him “my hero” and bassist Tony Kanal expressing love “beyond words.” (Story URL)
Britney Spears has entered a treatment facility voluntarily. The 44-year-old pop star’s team provided no additional details about the location or reasons for seeking treatment. TMZ reported she checked into a U.S. rehab facility for substance abuse issues, citing sources with direct knowledge. Spears was arrested in March on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura County, California. Her representative called the incident “completely inexcusable” and said it could mark “the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.” Public concern has grown over her frequent social media posts showing her dancing alone at home.
