Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger acknowledged that decades-old rivalry rumors between his band and The Beatles contained genuine elements. “I think there was an element of truth in it,” Jagger told the Today show. “But I think there was an element of PR in it, too. But it was also London [versus] Liverpool, so it’s a bit like L.A. [and] New York.” Despite past tensions, the bands now collaborate regularly. Paul McCartney contributed to the Stones’ upcoming album Foreign Tongues, releasing July 10th, playing what Jagger described as “a melodic rap song.” McCartney previously appeared on their 2024 track “Bite My Head Off.” Jagger praised McCartney’s versatility: “He’s really got abilities to swap styles and he’s a really good bass.” The singer noted McCartney and John Lennon supported the Stones during difficult times in the 1960s, even singing on recordings together.
