Tedeschi Trucks Band has canceled appearances at Newport Folk Festival and FloydFest after singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi revealed she needs appendix removal surgery. Tedeschi announced the news Monday on Instagram, calling it “a very common procedure” and promising fans she would recover quickly. “I never cancel shows and don’t like inconveniencing our fans, band and crew,” she wrote, adding the band would “make it up to y’all as soon as we can.” Tedeschi and her husband, slide guitar icon Derek Trucks, lead the 12-member group, which released their latest album Future Soul in March and has been touring all summer. Comedy troupe Broken Lizard stormed the stage during Limp Bizkit’s performance of “Break Stuff” — dressed in full Super Troopers uniforms — to deliver a fake noise complaint. The stunt took place Saturday at Creed’s “Summer of ’99 and Beyond Festival” in Tinley Park, Illinois. Crowds were initially confused before a Broken Lizard member addressed the audience with a memorable line about “chicken fu-kers” from the franchise. The bit ended with both groups partying onstage together. Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain is calling out celebrities who mix politics with their platform, directing sharp words specifically at Bruce Springsteen. In an interview with YouTube channel The Complete Disaster Network, Cain declared, “Guys like Bruce Springsteen should shut up. Honestly, shut up, Bruce.” Cain, whose wife serves as a ‘spiritual advisor’ to President Trump, described himself as a “diehard conservative” and argued artists should focus on unifying audiences rather than political messaging.
