The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Edmonton Oilers 6-2 last night. The Pens scored three goals in a span of 37-seconds early in the first period. Anthony Mantha scored the first two goals 22 seconds apart – just over two minutes into the game period against former Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry. Sidney Crosby scored the third goal 15 seconds later.
Goaltender Arturs Silovs stopped 30 of 32 shots from the Oilers as the Penguins won their third game in a row.
Over their past 11 games, the Penguins have received some of the best goal-tending play in the NHL. In his last four games – Silovs has a 1.95 Goals Against Average and a 92.9 save percentage. Stuart Skinner has a 1.58 GAA and 93.3% save percentage over his last seven games.
The Penguins complete their current road trip in Vancouver Sunday, as they attempt a four-game road sweep. Face-off is 6pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 5:30pm.
The Pens host the Chicago Blackhawks next Thursday before hosting former head coach Mike Sullivan and the New York Rangers for a nationally-televised game next Saturday afternoon (January 31st).
