The Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Chicago Blackhawks tonight for an 8pm face-off. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:30pm.
The Penguins are 3-2-1 overall so far this season with seven points. That is good for third place in the Metropolitan Division. The Blackhawks are 1-5 and are in last place in the Central Division of the Western Conference.
The Penguins made a trade for more defense depth Monday. The Pens acquired defenseman Ryan Johnson from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for minor league defensemen Caleb Jones and Daniel Laatsch. Johnson was the 31st overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. The 25-year-old has played just 47 NHL games, the vast majority during his rookie year in 2023-24. He spent most of the past two seasons with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League and started the 2026-27 campaign there as well. The Pens have had to place Trevor Van Riemsdyk on Injured Reserve.
