The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-3 last night at PNC Park. The come-from-behind victory, snapped a three-game losing streak. Andrew McCutchen had a two-run double in the seventh inning which after the Cubs had taken a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning. David Bednar closed the game for his third save of the season.
( Since returning from Triple-A Indianapolis, Bednar has appeared in six games and allowed just one run. He’s given up ve hits and struck out eight batters in six complete innings. )
Starting pitcher Carmen Mlodzinski allowed two earned runs on six hits over four innings. He walked one and struck out four. Bryan Reynolds and Ke’Bryan Hayes had two hits a piece.
The victory was overshadowed by a man falling from the 21-foot high Clemente Wall in right field as McCutchen had his key hit in the seventh inning.
The Bucs and Cubs complete their three-game series this afternoon at 12:35pm. Pre-game begins on WISR at 12:10pm. Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates.
