The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-3 last night, handing the Bucs their fifth-straight loss. The Pirates led 3-2 in the sixth inning before reliever Chase Shugart failed to record an out and allowed four earned runs. He had allowed just two runs over his previous 12 appearances this season.
Bryan Reynolds hit a first inning home run, his fifth of the season. The Bucs managed seven hits in the game.
