The Washington Nationals shutout the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-0 last night at PNC Park. After 14 hits on Monday night, the Bucs had just four hits last night, and none for extra-bases. They also struck out 10 times in the game.
Starting pitcher Mitch Keller saw his record fall to 1-2. He allowed all three earned runs to the Nationals over six innings.
It was the third time this season, and second time in three games, that the Pirates have been shutout.
The Pirates had a paid attendance of just over 8,000 fans for the fourth time in eight home games this season. The Pirates had attendance of under 9,000 just once during 2024.
The Bucs and Nationals play again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm. Bailey Falter starts for the Pirates tonight.
The Pirates have placed catcher Endy Rodriguez on the 10-day Injured List as a result of the finger laceration he suffered in Monday night’s victory over Washington.
