The St. Louis Cardinals completed a three-game series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday afternoon following a 5-0 victory. Cardinals starting pitcher Sonny Gray struck out eight and allowed just two hits over seven innings. Pirates starter Mitch Keller allowed three runs on seven hits over his six innings. He struck out six. The Pirates managed only four hits for the second straight game.
It was the Pirates seventh shutout of the season and seventh loss in a row.
The Pirates are off today and host the Atlanta Braves for three-games beginning Friday night.
