The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Miami Marlins 5-2 Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park. After the Bucs had taken a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Andrew McCutchen hit a three run home-run in the fifth inning. It was his sixth home run of the season, and he passed Pirates legend Roberto Clemente for third-place on the Pirates all-time home run list. It was his 241st home run as a Pirate.
McCutchen now has 327 career home runs over his 17-seasons.
Bailey Falter pitched into the sixth inning, allowing one run and earned the victory. David Bednar earned his ninth save after a perfect ninth inning, striking out two batters.
The Pirates took two of three games from the Marlins and are now in Chicago for a four-game series with the Cubs. Tonight will be the only night-game of the series. First pitch is 8:05pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:40pm.
