Butler County Community College’s Jacob Marquardt and Taylor Voloch are positioned to become the college’s second set of All-Americans in golf in the same year and Voloch, to become a program pioneer.
Marquardt is tied for fourth place among men and Voloch stands alone in 15th among women after two rounds of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national championships in Chautauqua, NewYork. The 18 players with the lowest scores after Friday’s fourth round receive the prestigious postseason award, which BC3 golfers have been presented seven times in the past three decades.
BC3’s men’s team is in seventh place, trailing first-place Sandhills, the four-time defending champion.
Marquardt shot a 4-over 76 on Wednesday, after a first-round 71 on Tuesday. Voloch shot a 119 on Wednesday. Her two-day 239 is 18 strokes ahead of the golfer who occupies 18th place. Voloch could become BC3’s first All-American women’s golfer. The fourth female to play for Bill Miller in his 23 years as Pioneers coach is also the first to compete in the 4-year-old women’s national championship.
BC3’s first set of All-Americans in golf in the same season were Thomas Dimun and Stefan Carlsson in 2015.
