MLB Wild Card Playoffs:
–The Chicago Cubs defeated the San Diego Padres 3-1 to advance to the National League Divisional Round. The Cubs will meet Central Division foe Milwaukee. First pitch is just after 2pm Saturday and will be televised on TBS.
–The Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 and move on to face the Seattle Mariners in the Divisional Round. It is the second straight season the Tigers have won an opening round Wild Card series in the road. The Detroit-Seattle game will begin at 8:38pm Saturday and be televised on TBS and TruTV.
–The New York Yankees shutout the Boston Red Sox 4-0 and move on to meet another Eastern Division rival in the Toronto Blue Jays. Yankees rookie starting pitcher Cam Schlitter pitched eight shutout innings, striking out 12. He became the first pitcher to toss at least eight scoreless innings with at least 12 strikeouts and no walks in a postseason game. The 12 strikeouts were the most ever in a winner-take-all game in baseball history, and the most in a playoff debut in Yankees history. The Yankees-Blue Jays game will begin at 4pm Saturday and be televised on Fox.
–The other Divisional Series will see the Los Angeles Dodgers meet the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday at 6:38pm. That game will be on TBS and TruTv.
