As different companies and government agencies work to distribute COVID-19 vaccine, Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement official is warning residents about the danger of possible scams.
According to Attorney General Josh Shapiro, scammers will increase their efforts knowing that they might be able to steal personal information and defraud people out of money.
Anyone claiming that the vaccine can be obtained sooner by paying some out of pocket fee is lying and should be reported to the authorities. Sometimes scammers will claim to be from an insurance company and ask for additional personal information. If the unsolicited offer sounds suspicious, hang up and call the number on your medical insurance card directly for confirmation.
Anyone who believes that they may have been a victim of a scam should visit the Attorney General’s website to file a complaint.
