Senator Pat Toomey was one of only five Republicans to vote to proceed with the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump.
Toomey said in a statement that there are “legal and constitutional arguments both favoring and opposing an impeachment trial of a former president.”
He said he ultimately came to the conclusion that he believes it’s appropriate to consider the impeachment of President Trump.
Toomey says he’ll consider all arguments when the impeachment trial begins on February 9th.
