As other states around the country lift their mask mandates, Pennsylvania’s acting health secretary says that’s not happening in the Commonwealth just yet.
“At this stage, mask wearing is still mandatory and we’re still making sure that it is one of the mitigation efforts that is preserved, while we incrementally consider the relaxation of others,” Health Secretary Alison Beam said.
She also says that the state continually monitors when they’ll relax other mitigation efforts.
“We have made progress earlier this week with the Governor’s announcement of progressing incrementally by lifting certain mitigation efforts,” Beam said. “I think that’s indicative of the progress the state is making on key factors.”
Beam stressed that masks are an important part of the state’s plan to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
