State police released the number of background checks on firearm purchases for the first quarter, and it revealed another record setting amount.
From January through March, police conducted over 427,000 background checks—the most ever in state history.
Compared to the first quarter of 2019, that figure is up nearly 40 percent when over 304,000 background checks were conducted.
Of that number, a little over 6,000 were rejected from purchasing a firearm according to police.
