A hearing to lower the bail for a man alleged to have killed a teenager will be held later this week.
After defense attorneys for 39-year-old Joshua Rivera filed a motion to have his bail lowered, a hearing has been set for Thursday.
Rivera is accused of hitting and killing 15-year-old Aiden Lutz in October 2023 with his vehicle. The defense and prosecution will make arguments in front of a visiting judge in the Butler County Court House.
The motion filed for Rivera asks his bond be lowered due to delays in his trial referencing state law for the lowering.
A ruling would be made in the coming days or weeks after both sides present their arguments.
Rivera’s June trial dates have been canceled according to current criminal records.
