Police have released more information on a pile-up crash that injured several people and killed one person.
Just after 10 a.m. Friday, crews were called to the north and south bound lanes of I-79 near the Evans City exit for a multi-vehicle accident.
According to State Police, 53-year-old Lisa McAllister of Ellwood City pulled over in the right-hand lane and 34-year-old Casey Steele of Edinburg also pulled over and exited his vehicle to inform incoming drivers of an accident ahead.
As 60-year-old Stanley Barnhisel of Spring Hill, Florida attempted to stop and pull over in his vehicle he lost control due to road conditions and collided with McAllister’s and Steele’s vehicle. A vehicle driven by 67-year-old Joseph Lathrop of Fairmont also lost control and collided with Barnhisel.
Lathrop’s and his passenger 66-year-old Debra Lathrop suffered suspected minor injuries and were both transported to Allegheny General Hospital.
There were not other reported injuries from these collisions.
