Traffic on Route 8 was delayed for a time yesterday after a logging truck rolled over.
The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the Route 8/Route 422 interchange in Butler.
Tara Hardsock works at the Armstrong building nearby and saw the accident happen. “The truck was coming off the Route 422 ramp and started leaning. That’s when we saw the truck roll over and it looked like the logs were coming toward us,” Hardsock said.
The logs went all over the road and there was a significant amount of fuel leaking. Route 8 was shut down for hours while crews worked to clear the logs.
The county’s HAZMAT team was also brought in to help clean up the fuel. One person was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with multiple injuries, but was in stable condition.
