Pennsylvania community colleges are taking issue with another year of flat-funding in the state budget.
The chief lobbying body for the 15 community colleges in the state said this was the fifth year in a row where they received the same level of funding as the previous year.
Officials with group say the continued level-funding could lead to reduced staff, eliminating programs, and increasing tuition.
“As a result, our colleges, students, and the communities we serve will be caught in the crosshairs,” Dr. Tuesday Stanley, Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges (PACCC) President / CEO, said. “We will continue to do what our sector does best – focus on our students and the communities we serve. But the challenges for our colleges become greater without adequate state funding.”
Enrollment for the last school year across all community colleges was 264,000.
