Repair work on the model Brooklyn Bridge in Saxonburg is set to begin.
The wire shop currently has no foundation and needs to meet current code standards for the electric in the building. Inside the shop, there is also has some straw and clay repair to improve the state of the building.
The contract is with Grossman Construction for $314,150 and may get under way in the next few weeks. Work is weather dependent, but if there are no delays it is expected to take between three to four months.
Funding for the project came through donations, state grants, the Allegheny Foundation, and Experience Butler County. No borough funds will be used for the repairs.
The bridge project is expected to be completed by the end of the park season and the borough is looking for donations for monogram stones for the bridge project.
