A couple of local projects are among those chosen to receive a state grant to help implement new technology.
Soergel Orchards in Wexford will be awarded a grant from the PA Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Innovation Grant Program in the amount of nearly $25,000 for the purchase of a drone for mapping and surveying, crop monitoring, and water management, as well as application of fertilizer and pesticides.
Also, Dream, Invent, Inspire, of Evans City, will receive over $5,000 to help pay for an AI system for vertical garden and crop management.
Nearly $10 million was invested statewide to help with nearly 100 projects. Applications for the program’s third round of grants will be accepted beginning nest month.
