Three men are in the Butler County Prison for their alleged roles in a scheme that scammed people out of thousands of dollars.
The incident that initiated the arrest of the three men happened on Wednesday at the AutoZone located on Route 19 in Cranberry.
According to charging documents, 23-year-old Elvis Rodriguez-Colon of Bethlehem, 22-year-old Cristopher Cedeno of Allentown, and 19-year-old Aiden Martinez of Breinigsville were using an unauthorized commercial account to purchase merchandise. After making the purchase the men would return the items at another store for cash.
The men attempted to purchase $1,247 in merchandise with an account that belonged to an Alabama mam. But, store officials were warned of this scam happening at other stores in Pennsylvania and called the police before the men left the store. Officials estimate they were able to fraudulently purchase $6,424 worth of merchandise.
They were all charged with felony access device fraud and had their bails set at $200,000.
A preliminary hearing for all three has been scheduled for October 30.
