A man accused of firing a gun near an elementary school had his bail increased by a magistrate court.
Police have accused 57-year-old Bryan Hartman of Renfrew of being in illegal possession of a homemade rifle and firing the weapon near Connoqunessing Elementary in April. Hartman is a convicted felon for a previous crime and cannot be in possession of a firearm.
On Wednesday, his bail amount was increased from $25,000 to $100,000. During the bail hearing Hartman was not provided a public defender to represent him.
He’s been charged three counts of possession of a firearm prohibited, recklessly endangering another person, and disorderly conduct.
He’s awaiting the assignment of a public defender to proceed with his legal proceedings.
