Lawmakers in Harrisburg have proposed legislation that would see revenue brought in on state-owned land redistributed across the state.
House bill 2141, would direct 20 percent of total revenue collected from timber, oil and natural gas, construction of radio towers, rent, royalties from energy development, and park user fees, to be deposited into a restricted fund to be given to local governments.
The funding would be distributed based off state land in municipalities, school districts, and counties by number of acres of state land.
The bill has been introduced in the State House Finance Committee.
