As legislation in Harrisburg is advancing on regulating data centers, new proposed state house legislation would require information on the data center be made publicly available.
This new legislation that has yet to be formally introduced but it would require data centers to report the amount of water and electricity they use each year and report on community benefits.
If they do not comply they would face significant sanctions.
According to the bill’s memo, the bill will allow residents to “better understand the consequences of the data centers operating in our state, regardless of any moratoriums or changes to the legal and permitting context of data center development.”
