Butler County is partnering with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to help with providing food for those in need.
The county reached a three-year agreement with the food bank to coordinate distribution efforts to the local food pantries.
The county and the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank first reached an agreement last summer after the county ended a contract with Community Partnership.
Since that time, the food bank has provided 2.5 million pounds of food; Commissioner Kim Geyer said of that number, 1 million was in fresh produce.
