A Butler man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for possessing a firearm and ammo as a felon.
The Department of Justice says 33-year-old Thomas Clark was sentenced earlier this week.
In 2017, Clark pled guilty to two felony charges related to distributing illegal drugs.
Clark was then charged in January of 2024, when local law enforcement went to arrest him on aggravated assault charges. When policed arrived on scene to arrest Clark, he dropped an AR-15-style rifle with no serial number, a revolver, and dozens of rounds of ammunition.
The aggravated assault charges stem from an accusation that Clark beat a man with a piece of metal rebar at the Woodlands in Conoquenessing Township in January 2024. Then told a group of people to take the man to the hospital but the group pulled over on Route 422 and called paramedics that flew the man to an area hospital.
Clark is awaiting a trial for the county charges.
