The stretch of hot weather will continue early this week.
An extreme heat warning is in effect through Wednesday night as the heat index could reach 105.
There is also an air quality alert, so those suffering from respiratory issues are advised to avoid outdoor activity over the next couple of days.
Fred McMullen of the National Weather Service also says to be careful during overnights.
“Overnight lows fall into the lower 70s every morning through Thursday morning. This is where we have the concerns with the prolonged periods of heat, is when people who don’t have air conditioning don’t get the overnight relief to cool off,” McMullen said. “If you have family or friends who don’t have air conditioning, check on them.”
“We definitely see a lot more heat-related illnesses with people after three days of lows in the lower 70s when people don’t have air conditioning,” McMullen added.
He also advised limiting time outside today and drinking plenty of water.
Western Pennsylvania averages around seven days a year over 90 degrees a year, after hitting that mark yesterday we’ll see another two days of mid-90s.
