A former Seneca Valley security guard was sentenced yesterday for sexually assaulting a teen and disseminating child sexual abuse material.
In November 2022, 28-year-old Matthew Cowan of Brackenridge, a security guard for a private company working for the school district, was accused of kissing and touching a 17-year-old girl. Then in December 2022, Cowan was charged with disseminating sexual abuse material.
On Thursday, he pled no contest and was sentenced for aggravated indecent assault and disseminating child sexual acts.
Cowan was sentenced to two to seven years in prison, three years of probation, register with Megan’s Law.
Cowan was paroled to electric monitoring at sentencing.
