Police have charged a Butler man for allegedly showing up under the influence at an elementary school to pick up his child.
It’s alleged that 31-year-old Nicholas Edwards came to Emily Brittain Elementary last Friday to pick up his child.
But police say that Edwards was knocking on windows at the school saying he was late to pick up his son. He also reported his child missing, but video evidence showed the child had been picked up earlier and was located at Edwards home.
Police say Edwards was under the influence but he rejected to complete a field sobriety test. He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of children, a DUI, and disorderly conduct.
Edwards was able to post the $30,000 bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
