The Pennsylvania Department of Health has provided a new report on measles cases in Pennsylvania.
The DOH reports on Friday that 58 new measles cases were confirmed on Wednesday.
Including the second case in Allegheny County. Officials believe the infections are connected to an Allegheny County school and anyone who may have come in contact with the infected will be contacted.
In total, 1,136 people have been infected, 219 people have been hospitalized, 41 counties have at least one reported case, five people have had a measles-associated death, and four vaccinated people have been infected, but that makes up less than one percent of cases.
Health officials advise everyone over the age six to be fully vaccinated with both doses to drastically reduce chances of hospitalization. More information can be found online through the state website’s Measles Dashboard.
