A new Jimi Hendrix exhibition launches June 19 at 23 Brook Street in London, the guitarist’s former residence during the late 1960s. The display features documents from Anim Records, which managed the Jimi Hendrix Experience, plus personal receipts and diaries from Patricia ‘Trixie’ Sullivan, assistant to Hendrix’s manager. Located at Handel Hendrix House, the museum occupies the flat Hendrix shared with girlfriend Kathy Etchingham, adjacent to composer George Frideric Handel’s former home. Exhibition curator Claire Davies notes the items reveal Hendrix’s domestic life, including receipts for Persian rugs worth approximately £30,000 in today’s money. “It’s a really interesting insight into what his life behind his rock star image looked like,” Davies said. Brook Street represents the only place Hendrix called home during his four-year London-based career. Story URL

They’re sketches,” Thayil explained. “What we have to do is finish the sketches and we’re in that process.” The band coordinates work around other commitments without record label pressure. “It’s important for the legacy of Soundgarden. It’s important for the legacy of Chris Cornell. It is doing right by our partner and friend,” Thayil stated. Additionally, Thayil announced his book A Screaming Life: Into the Superunknown with Soundgarden and Beyond, co-written with Adem Tepedelen, releasing June 9th. Story URL
